The NWSF Academy provides high-quality football development programs for boys and girls from Under 6 to Under 16 across the North West Sydney Football community.
The Academy gives players access to experienced coaches and a structured development environment focused on improving individual ability, game understanding and decision-making.
It also provides a pathway for players seeking to progress into NWS Spirit FC’s Junior Development League (JDL) and Youth League programs.
Developing Players Within Their Local Clubs
Academy players train during the week and continue to represent their local community clubs on weekends.
This allows players to apply what they have learned in Academy sessions during competitive matches while remaining connected to their local club.
NWS Spirit FC works closely with NWSF clubs to strengthen player development pathways and support the long-term success of players and the wider football community.
NWS Spirit FC DNA
Training is delivered through the NWS Spirit FC DNA curriculum.
Sessions are designed to develop:
- Technical ability
- First touch and ball control
- Passing and receiving
- Decision-making
- Game awareness
- Confidence in possession
- Individual and team-based football skills
Player Pathway
The Academy provides a clear pathway into NWS Spirit FC’s representative programs.
Players are regularly assessed by NWS Spirit FC coaches and may be identified for opportunities within JDL and Youth League squads.
A number of players have progressed through the Academy into higher-level football, including Rubi Sullivan and Wataru Kamijo, who have since joined Sydney FC.
The Academy continues to play an important role in identifying and developing talented players from across the NWSF community.

Program Structure
The NWS Spirit FC Academy operates in 10-week programs aligned with NSW school terms.
The program is open to players of all abilities and operates on a user-pays basis.
Players are graded into training groups with others of a similar age and ability. Each age group may also include an advanced training group for players considered most likely to progress to the next stage of the NWS Spirit FC pathway.
Programs are available for both field players and goalkeepers.
Players are continually assessed throughout each program, with opportunities available to progress between training groups and into NWS Spirit FC representative teams.
Term 4, 2026 Update
The NWS Spirit FC Academy will not operate during Term 4, 2026 due to scheduled resurfacing works at Christie Park.
The Academy is expected to recommence in Term 1, 2027.
Players seeking additional development opportunities during Term 4 can consider the NWS Spirit FC X-Factor Program, which provides specialised small-group training.

Venue
Christie Park, Macquarie Park
Training Days
Academy training is generally scheduled on:
- Boys: Mondays
- Girls: Fridays
Confirmed training times for Term 1, 2027 will be published before registrations open.
Academy Training Kit
All players are required to wear the official NWS Spirit FC Academy training kit, supplied by Gioca.
The kit includes:
- Yellow Academy training shirt
- Black shorts
- Black socks
Returning Academy players may continue to wear their existing Academy training kit.
Wet Weather and Communication
Academy sessions are not normally cancelled due to rain, as Christie Park has all-weather synthetic pitches.
Sessions will only be cancelled when conditions are considered unsafe (such as electrical storms nearby) or the venue is unavailable.
Any changes to scheduled training sessions will be communicated to participants via email.
Parking at Christie Park
Parking is available at Christie Park, although spaces are limited and Academy training nights are generally among the busiest periods at the venue.
Families should allow additional time to arrive and find parking.
To help reduce congestion, families may also consider parking on Talavera Road near Macquarie University or at Macquarie Shopping Centre and walking to Christie Park.
