Harper Pell and Junior Matildas qualify for the U17 World Cup!

Congratulations to Women’s 1st Grade player Harper Pell and the Junior Matildas – they have qualified for this year’s U17 Women’s World Cup, after making the semi-finals of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup!

Australia finished second in their group after defeating India 2-0, drawing 1-1 with Lebanon, and losing 5-0 to Japan. This ensured progress to the quarter-finals, where the Junior Matildas won 2-0 against Vietnam to secure both a semi-final spot and a place in the U17 World Cup.

Unfortunately, Australia’s tournament run ended after a 4-0 loss to Japan in the semi-finals.

NWS Spirit FC is proud of Harper and the work she has put in to become a member of both the U17 national team and our 1st Grade squad.

The U17 Women’s World Cup will be held from 17 October – 7 November in Morocco.
